Nottingham singer/songwriter Curtis Whitefinger is back with third album Rockets of Persistence.
The album has an eccentric geeky charm courtesy of Whitefinger's delightfully harmonious vocal. He has had genuine comparisons with Bob Dylan, but Whitefinger has definitely carved out his own identity.
Whitefinger is a quirky lyricist with a dry slightly acerbic edge. This is particularly evident on the country tinged Call Centre Blues and the gorgeous Sofa Dust the albums standout track.
One criticism of the record would be how quiet it sounds, this negates just how strong Whitefinger's guitar playing is. However, I am nitpicking this is an album that surely deserves a wider audience as Whitefinger is never without anything to say. If Whitefinger never hits the big time then the mainstream has missed out on a poetic genius.
